Garden conservation
Lincolnshire Heritage at Risk Project
Lincolnshire Gardens Trust is supporting a new conservation venture: a pilot project working together with The Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire
The Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire was established in 1991 with the aim to increase understanding, pride and enjoyment of Lincolnshire’s heritage. The Trust raises funding to protect, conserve and promote the rich heritage of the county for the benefit of local people and visitors to Lincolnshire. By encouraging active participation in our activities we aim to offer opportunities for people to learn about their local heritage, gain new skills and knowledge and to enjoy the rich and diverse history of the county.
The Heritage at Risk Project is an exciting new project that is being undertaken by the Trust. Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage, Lincolnshire County Council, Local District Councils and other partners the project aims to carry out surveys to record the condition of the county’s historic buildings, archaeological sites, places of worship, parks and gardens and conservation areas. This information will give us an up-to-date picture of the county’s heritage and will be used to plan strategies for monitoring, conservation and protection of this precious resource. The surveys will be carried out entirely by volunteer Heritage Stewards so any time you can give will make a real difference to the success of the project.
You can become a volunteer on the project by attending one of our training events in your area. As a Heritage Steward you will learn about, explore and enjoy your local heritage. You will be part of a network of volunteers sharing experiences and discoveries, meet new people and become active within the local community. You will gain new skills and knowledge and make an active contribution to conserve and enhance your local heritage and most of all have fun!
