The Association of Gardens Trusts' Schools Education Adviser

For the last three years, Juliet Wilmot, the enthusiastic and experienced member of the Council of Management representing Education, has travelled all over the country, meeting teachers and helping schools in a variety of ways. She has also encouraged those county gardens trusts without education committees to get involved in schools. We are deeply grateful to Juliet for her hard work and commitment.
She now feels that the time has come to alter her role and has kindly agreed to act as the Association’s Schools Education Adviser, offering advice via the AGT website and via email on a variety of educational topics as they occur. These might include news on appropriate websites, such as www.rocketgardens.co.uk on pots of organically grown, established pots of herbs and vegetables for schools, and do see her article on www.plantscafe.net for primary schools - ‘inspirational, full of ideas, good links, excellent presentation and easy to use’, says Nick Wright, Head of Education at the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Arboretum; information on the availability of grants, practical advice on gardening in schools through the excellent Wiltshire Gardens Trust School Garden Information Sheets, all 27 of them; on setting up school garden clubs and on any other topic relating to schools and gardens that you might care to contact Juliet about.
In some cases, she would continue to visit those schools or county gardens trusts with a definite project in mind. Juliet will continue to put schools at the forefront of the work of the Wiltshire Gardens Trust and the South West Education Forum. Her email is juliet.wilmot@zeronet.co.uk Do get in touch.
