Primary children can explore their environment and carry out experiments with a new web site www.plantscafe.net. This has been set up and sponsored by many different organisations and covers some wonderful ideas that many schools would like to follow. The main messages are:-

We need to know how plants grow in order to understand they provide us with the basic necessities of life – oxygen and food.

Knowledge about food from plants is crucial for human health, the environment and sustainable development.

Inspiration for art, creativity and science come from the ‘green magic’ of plant diversity.

Understanding the danger of plant extinction encourages stewardship of plants and active conservation.

It is a highly recommended web site for all those interested in using the school garden as a teaching resource.
