Our
Why
is it good to have a fruit and vegetable garden at
It
teaches children to plant seeds and learn information about flowers and plants,
and where our food comes from.
Do
children enjoy gardening club and why?
Yes!
Because everyone is invited to gardening club and everyone gets a turn to try
new things. We are even selling our fruit, vegetables and flowers.
Why
is the garden looking so nice?
Everyone
is working together and not doing one job all by themselves, we water the
plants most days. Its great fun!
They are incredibly
proud of their work and achievements and are always super enthusiastic in
Gardening Club. The delight they get from being in the garden is clearly
shown on their faces. Many of the children ask us if they can do anything
in the garden, even when it’s not gardening club!
The
garden is a lovely place, the benefit to the school and children is huge and
wide ranging. They have learnt what plants need to grow; gained an
understanding of the seed-plant-food link; developed their growing skills, and
have been selling their wares at the school garden stall to keep the garden
cycle going!

Although
we only began the very early stages of developing the garden in March this
year, we have had such tremendous support from the children, their families and
staff that the project has raced ahead. We now have a blooming garden which we
all thoroughly enjoy.
The
money the Wiltshire Gardens Trust kindly donated to us has been fantastic – it
was used to landscape the garden and turn it from an under utilised area of the
school to a flourishing and highly valued fruit and vegetable garden.
We
have both really really enjoyed ourselves doing this project - thanks to
Wiltshire Gardens Trust for helping to make it happen.
Many
Thanks
